【Pacific Car Network Technology Channel】Autonomous driving is one of the most important directions for major automobile manufacturers and Internet companies in recent years. Apart from Tesla, Google, Baidu and other companies that we are familiar with, in China, as a traditional car manufacturer Changan Automobile also has a huge investment in automatic driving technology.
As early as 2016, two self-driving cars developed by Changan Automobile set off from Chongqing, and after 2,000 kilometers of long-distance travel, they finally arrived in Beijing. The information and data collected along the way provided support for more advanced automatic driving technologies. .
However, at the time, the driverless car was still in the testing phase. The radar and camera on the vehicle body were not in mass production. When entering and leaving the service area, gas station and other complex road conditions, manual control was needed to ensure safety, but for Chinese brands to come It is indeed very rare to say that it is possible to independently accomplish such “magnificence”.
The Changan Automobile announced today (March 20th) is the official production of IACC technology, the core technology in automatic driving. The technology will first be installed on its compact SUV Changan CS55.
What is Level 2 Autopilot?
For autopilot technology, we generally use the grading system formulated by the American Society of Automotive Engineers SAE. According to different degrees, from zero assistance to full automation, a total of six levels of L0~L5 are included. The IACC technology that Changan CS55 carries is one of the L2 levels.
Differences from the regular CS55
The CS55 equipped with the IACC function has no difference with the basic version of the CS55 in terms of the basic model. Only the details are changed. For example, adding a radar and a camera, etc., can be easily understood as a high version of the CS55.
The changes in the interior part are similarly small, and they are basically the same as the high-end models of the cash models. Only new style multi-function steering wheels and full LCD dashboards have been replaced.

2 What are the highlights of the IACC technology on the CS55? Back to top
What are the highlights of the IACC technology on the CS55?
The IACC is an intelligent integrated cruise control system. Under the clear road conditions, after the IACC is activated, it can realize single-lane automatic assisted driving, and there is traffic congestion assistance driving, lane keeping assistance, automatic deceleration cornering, and intelligence. Speed limit assistance, scene reconstruction and other functions, compared to ordinary cruise control and adaptive cruise, this system is more intelligent, it is easy to use a lot.
In traffic jams, the vehicle will automatically remain in the lane or follow the vehicle in front. The distance between the vehicle and the vehicle in front can be detected by the laser radar in front. There are four levels of distance and distance can be adjusted, and the distance can be recognized up to 150m. Vehicles, small cars show white icons in the picture, and large cars show truck styles.
Since this is only the L2 level of automatic driving, or to the driver, the steering wheel can not be a long time to get rid of, but only need to gently ride on the steering wheel on the line.
The general lane departure warning system will warn you when you are about to press the line. A slightly higher system will cause the steering wheel to vibrate and increase the damping of the steering. Some will automatically reverse the direction, but in the event of heavy rain and fog, When you can't see the traffic lanes, you become an S-shaped traffic in a traffic lane, while the IACC system keeps the vehicle in the middle of the two traffic lanes. If the system is working properly, it will not There may be pressure lines.
After entering the curve, the vehicle will automatically recognize the radius of the calculated curve, and automatically reduce the speed to a reasonable range according to the current driving state of the vehicle. After leaving the curve, it will automatically accelerate under the premise of ensuring safety. To the speed set by the driver.

Summary:
It seems that the Changan IACC system seems to be perfect, but it still has certain limitations. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, first of all, its activation depends very much on the clear lane line, and if it enters the corner, it can only be in a hurry. Staying on the bend, the system is still based on people, but this is not a disadvantage. After all, at this stage, the machine is still more reliable as an aid. Only the human-based L2 autopilot technology is developed first. After a little bit of technical accumulation, until the laws and regulations are sound, it is the responsibility of a responsible company to introduce a higher-level technology to the market. Level | SAE definition |
L0 | Personal driving, but during driving Some warning features can be provided. |
L1 | Provides driving support for steering wheel and acceleration/deceleration. The rest is done by the driver. |
L2 | Provide driving support for multiple operations in the steering wheel and acceleration/deceleration. The rest is done by the driver. |
L3 | All operations performed by the unmanned system, human drivers need to provide appropriate responses to system requests. |
L4 | All operations are performed by the driverless system. Human drivers do not necessarily need to respond to system requests, but limit road and environmental conditions. |
L5 | All operations are performed by the unmanned system without limiting road and environmental conditions. |
