Li Bijian said at the opening ceremony that education exchanges between Yunnan and India have the advantages of geographical location, ethnic diversity and the Chinese government providing preferential policies. In his keynote address, Chen Shibo pointed out that Yunnan is an important major thoroughfare connecting China with South Asia and Southeast Asia. At present, India has 1276 foreign students in Yunnan, China. Yunnan University for Nationalities set up the first China-India Yoga Institute in China; Yunnan Normal University set up the first Confucius Class in India in Calcutta.
